A Full Day of Fishing in the Sea of Cortez
You know what they say about the early bird catching the worm. Your day will start bright and early for some live bait fishing before the real action begins. (You can purchase live bait for around USD 60 if you wish to fish for game.) When there’s enough bait in the well, you’re off to the best fishing spots around La Paz. Your captain knows the Sea of Cortez like the back of his hand, so you’re in good hands!
As you motor out of the bay, set up your fishing gear or let your crew get everything ready for you. You’ll do a combination of trolling and jigging on this fishing excursion. Enjoy the scenery and salty fresh air while you wait for a bite on your line. Hopefully in a few moments you’ll be fighting with yellowtail, dorado, marlin, roosterfish, or any other fish in season.
Not your usual fishing tour
If you’ve been on a fishing trip with another operator in La Paz before, prepare for the possibility to be out the whole day. Your crew will do their utmost for you to land one before the day is over. Please bear in mind though, that sport fishing is dependent on nature and a lot of other factors. Despite the crew’s best efforts, you could return to port with plenty of room left in your cooler.
Lunch and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided, but feel free to bring your beverage of choice on the trip.
Insider Notes
If you’re used to fishing for big game in the Pacific, sport fishing out of La Paz may yield slightly smaller results. The fish is just as tasty though, and the adrenaline rush from the thrill of the fight is the same.
While the seas are calmer in the Sea of Cortez compared to the Pacific, the weather can still get iffy out there. Don’t forget to take your medication one hour before leaving port if you’re sensitive to motion.
