Appreciating Nature's Raw Beauty
If you’re looking to spend some time in nature, Espiritu Santo Island is the place to be. A few years ago, the park authorities enforced a stricter policy when it comes to low-impact camping. Gone are the safari-style tents and big glamping camps that used to occupy the beaches of Espiritu Santo Island. Your humble base camp is equipped with eco-friendly amenities to give you a real camping experience and let you gain an appreciation for nature.
The first day finds you at the dock at 8:30 am and underway shortly after. Your boat will follow the coastline for some nice morning views of the city of La Paz. As your skiff motors along, look at interesting rock formations and observe both resident and migratory birds in their habitat. You will take your time to explore bays and beaches on the way to camp. A delicious lunch awaits when you arrive to camp. After lunch, take a siesta or simply relax; the late afternoon is a good time to go for a hike around the camp or read a book.
Days in Camp
Your full day in camp can be filled with a plethora of activities such as snorkeling with sea lions, kayaking, birdwatching, beach combing; or you can just chill. It’s totally up to you! After a hearty breakfast, get ready for one final activity on your last day. It will be time to say goodbye when lunch concludes. You will be back in La Paz around 3:00 pm.
Insider Notes
This tour is weather-dependent. Some activities may not be available in the presence of wind and/or swell. Please keep an open mind and allow for flexibility.
There are a lot of logistics involved when camping on a desert island. Freshwater is not easily accessible, so be mindful of your consumption. Prepare to move camp as per park rules if you are staying longer than 3 nights, though the staff will do their best to make this as seamless as possible for you.
